Solitaire Rules:
Initial Setup:
Solitaire (also known as Klondike or Patience) is a card game played with a single deck of 52 playing cards. At first, 28 cards are dealt face down to form the tableau which consists of 7 columns of 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 overlapping cards from left to right respectively. The exposed card at the bottom of each tableau column is turned face up. The 24 remaining cards are placed face down to form the stock.
Objective:
The object of the game is to move the four aces, as they appear, to the foundations, and build each up in suit from ace to king.
Playing The Game:
Turn cards face-up from the stock onto the waste. The top card of the waste pile may be played onto the tableau or foundations. Likewise, the top card of each tableau pile is available for play onto the foundations or another tableau pile. Cards within the tableau may be placed down in sequence and alternating color. A sequence of cards may be moved from one tableau column to another. When a face-down tableau card is exposed, it is turned-up automatically. If a space is created in the tableau, it may only be filled with a king. The stock may be recycled from the waste pile when it becomes empty. The game ends when either all foundations are filled (in which case you've won), or when no more moves are possible (or when the only possible move is to recycle the stock). In this case you've lost.
Draw 1 and Draw 3:
There are two ways to draw cards from the stock. By default you can draw cards 1 at a time, which is easier. You can change the game mode to the more difficult draw-3 mode from the options menu.
Standard Scoring:
You can enable Standard scoring from the options menu. Standard scoring rules are as follows:
Waste to tableau = +5 points
Waste to foundation = +10 points
Tableau to foundation = +10 points
Turn over tableau card = +5 points
Foundation to tableau = -15 points
Vegas Scoring:
You can enable Vegas scoring from the options menu. Vegas scoring rules are as follows:
You pay the house $52 to play a single game, $1 for every card in the deck. Cards are dealt 1 or 3 at a time (based on your configured options) and you win $5 for every card you release to the foundations. Therefore, to become profitable, you must move 11 cards to the foundations. The maximum score for this game is $208, if you win.
Vegas scoring limits you to 1 pass through the stock in Draw-1 mode and 3 passes in Draw-3 mode. Reaching the maximum limit of passes through the stock is denoted by a large "X" symbol on the stock place-holder.
You can enable the Cumulative mode when playing a Vegas game to carry over your earnings or losses from a previous game to the next game. The Cumulative mode can be enabled from the options menu. If you wish to reset the Cumulative earnings, you can do so from the options menu with the "Reset Vegas" button.
