Job Seek Manager
Job Seek Manager was designed to help you manage jobs applications. The process is very simple you select a job from the Web and copy and paste data into this software. Then click [Ok] button.
After you stored details for a job you can tract it and produce a number of listings.
We recommend that you:
§ Print Summary table
§ Show then print listing
The [Describe] field supports carriage return but table showing doesn’t. We suggest you avoid using [Describe] in table showing. All ‘showing’ is done via Internet Explorer
If you get a phone call about the job you can easily track it down and sound knowledgeable.

To run this software you need Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 and Microsoft Internet Explorer installed.
Key search words:
Job, Seek, Manager, Software, .Net
Click on [Add] button. Paste or enter details then click on [Ok] button.
Select a job from the grid then either click on [Edit] or right click mouse button. Change details and then click on [Ok] button.
Select a job from the grid then click on [Delete] button.
Select a job from the grid then click on [Lock] button.
Select a job from the grid then click on [Explorer] button.
To set sorting sequence click on sort button.
Double click on available column item to select it. Double clicking the selected column will change sort order to/from Ascending/Descending.
To store and activate sort sequence you must click on [Set] button.
The sort button will now display sorting sequence with any descending items abbreviated to a key word “desc”.
Click on the filter button.
Select any column by double clicking it.
The system defaults to: AND Column Name =””
Double click on the selected column
You can either enter a value or select one from stored values by double clicking
Select [And] or [Or] by clicking it
Click one button [=], [<], [<=], [>], [>=]. [<>] or for text columns [Like]
Click [Ok]
Repeat above sequence any number of times.
Click on [Set] button to store and set it.
Please note that moving items up/down doesn’t alter the filter setting but it can be used to improve its readability. The first OR/AND statement is ignored by the system.

Like comparison
Like operator tests a text for starting value. The statement Like ‘sam*’ will select all entries starting with ‘sam’
A compound filter consists a number of simple filters joined either by OR/AND logical operator. For example:
ID>123 AND Position Like ‘S*’
Position =’manager’ OR Advertiser Like ’Company*’
Please note that there is no precedence set on OR/AND statements for example:
ID=123 AND Position =’manager’ OR Position =’analyst’
Will not select ’analyst’ as first AND is applied.
Saves the current data to disk file Job Seek Manager Data.xml. Please note when you close the system it will save the current data to Job Seek Manager Data.xml. We suggest you use this command when you are entering large amount of data or have a premonition that PC is about to crash.
Prints usually one page summary of the current view.
Job Seek Manager writes all of its printout to a HTML file and opens it with Internet Explorer.
This menu item gives you an option:
§ To select print columns
§ Change print column order
§ Saving the selection
Please note that only the current view data is shown.
We recommend that you don’t show [Describe] field using this facility.
Prints complete data listing for records within the current view.
View consists of a filter and sorting sequence you can save the current view for future use or load a previously saved view.
Exports data schema to XML disk file.
Exports current view data to XML disk file.
Imports Job Seek Manager XML file and replaces all of data. We recommend that you export your current data to a file say Current.xml before importing any files.
Potential uses for imported/exported XML file are:
§ Importing data
§ Refreshing from disk file
§ Recovering from backup
Importing Job Seek Manager Data.xml will reload data from a disk. It’s a handy way to restart without saving data.
Please remember exiting the program will save the current data to the disk.
Deletes all jobs in the current view. We recommend that you export your current data to a file say Current.xml before executing this command.
When you exit Job Seek Manager it saves current data to Job Seek Manager DATA.xml file.
Unlocks all jobs within the current view.
Locks jobs within the current view. Transaction locking is used to protect data. Locked job can’t be deleted or edited.
Finds a first job within the current view according to search criteria specified.
This command will display the selected job. Its handy top use as you scroll through jobs and wish to quickly return to the selected one.
The system automatically sizes the grid columns. Please note that “Describe’ column will not autosize.

When you start Job Seek Manager it loads a database from file called Job Seek Manager Data.xml and creates a backup. When you exit Job Seek Manager it saves its data to that file. If you choose to ‘Import” another file then its data becomes current and it is saved to Job Seek Manager Data.xml.
All data is stored as XML files and is checked for XML integrity. Which means that characters <>[]{}*%"' are not allowed.
There is no data security provided. All XML files can be viewed and altered via notepad. Please do not any alter XML files!

Every time you start Job Seek Manager it saves its data to back up file named Jn.xml with J0.xml being the latest copy. To recover from backup:
§ Export current data to another file say Current.xml
§ Import J0.xml
If it doesn’t work try J1.xml etc. Alternatively look at file creation date to recover to a specific date.
