In October 2003 Intel announced the discontinuation of the Intel® PRO/1000 T Server Adapter (PWLA8490T), Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapter (PWLA8490SX), PRO/1000 T Desktop Adapter (PWLA8390T), and the PRO/1000 Gigabit Server Adapter (PWLA8490).

Why is Intel no longer offering the Intel® PRO/1000 T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters, Intel(R) PRO/1000Server Adapter and Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop adapters?
This adapter is being discontinued due to increased customer interest and preference for the Intel® PRO/1000 MT Server and Desktop Adapters for our customers who prefer copper connections. Customers preferring fiber are transitioning to Intel® PRO/1000 MF (LX connector) and Intel® PRO/1000 XF (SC connector) depending on the preference for fiber optic connector types.
How long will Intel provide drivers for the Intel® PRO/1000 T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters, Intel(R) PRO/1000Server Adapter and Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop adapters?
Intel plans that the driver suite for the PRO/1000 Server Adapter will continue to be backward compatible with the Intel® PRO/1000 T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters, the Intel(R) PRO/1000 Server and the Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop adapters.
How long will Intel provide support for the Intel® PRO/1000 T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters, Intel(R) PRO/1000 Server and the Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop adapter?
Telephone and email support via Intel technicians will continue through December 2004.
What if I have problems with my Intel® PRO/1000 T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapter, Intel(R) PRO/1000 Server or Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop and need an RMA? Will you still honor the warranty?
The Intel® PRO/1000T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters, Intel(R) PRO/1000 Server and Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop Adapters have a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which Intel will continue to honor. Adapters replaced under the Warranty will be replaced with the same or similar product. Please see the warranty statement in your user manual for warranty details.
Since Intel will no longer offer the Intel® PRO/1000 T and Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapters, Intel(R) PRO/1000Server Adapter and Intel(R) PRO/1000 T Desktop adapters, are there products you would recommend in its place?
Yes. We recommend the Intel® PRO/1000 MT Server adapter (PWLAA8490MT) for the Intel® PRO/1000 T Server adapter, which is Intel's current generation of Copper Gigabit Server adapters. Customers purchasing the Intel® PRO/1000 F Server Adapter can transition to the Intel® PRO/1000 MF Server Adapter(LC connector - PWLA8490MF) or Intel® PRO/1000 XF(SC connector - PWLA8490XF), depending on the customer's preference for fiber optic connector types. Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Desktop adapter(PWLA8391MT) is recommended for the Desktop adapters.
