Use ConfigFree

Profiles

ConfigFree profiles are useful for easily switching network settings and devices.
You can switch network settings simply by selecting the profile with the desired settings.

1 Profiles

A profile contains the currently configured network settings on the PC as well as information on any network devices.
The following setting items (called captured items) can be configured and saved for each profile.

Captured Items Setting Saved in Profile
Internet Settings LAN settings (proxy server settings, etc.) and home page address (address of home page that is automatically opened when Internet Explorer is started), which can be configured using Internet Options in Internet Explorer.
Devices Enabled/disabled status of wired and wireless network devices and infrared devices, and on/off power status of Bluetooth antenna
TCP/IP Settings DHCP, IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, DNS suffix, and WINS server settings
Internet Connection Firewall Settings Personal firewall settings for an Internet connection
Default Dial-up Dial-up connection settings configured for the default connection.
File and Printer Sharing Settings Enabled/disabled status of file and printer sharing
Default Printer Printer settings configured for the default printer.
Bluetooth Security Level Security level status of Bluetooth.

When a profile is selected, the network and device settings of that profile are applied and become the current settings.

Note: The SSID (name of wireless network connection) and WEP key are not captured items in a profile.
(When connected to a wireless LAN, the SSID is stored in the profile as connection information, but the setting is not applied even if the profile is switched. The WEP key is not stored in the profile.)

2 Checking the captured items (settings stored in a profile)

When a profile is created, the configured network settings and the device status are stored in the PC. Here is how to check exactly which information is stored in a profile.

In this example, let's configure the network settings in the PC and take a look at the connection status when the PC is connected to the office network environment. The captured items are Internet Settings, Device, TCP/IP Settings, Default Dial-up Connection, and Default Printer.
* When actually creating a profile, captured items are selected and the required settings are saved.
