The average daily volume in the global forex and related markets is continously growing and was last reported to be over US$ 4 trillion in April 2007 by the Bank for International Settlement.
Unlike a stock market, where all participants have access to the same prices, the forex market is divided into levels of access. At the top is the inter-bank market, which is made up of the largest investment banking firms.
The forex market is unique for many reasons one of which is the fact that trading is for long hours - 24 hours a day except on weekends from 5pm EST on Sunday until 4pm EST Friday.
